About Us – 1st Edenvale Scout Group

About Us

Who we are?

At the 1st Edenvale Scouts Group, we believe Scouting changes lives. We help children and young adults grow into confident, capable individuals who are ready to reach their full potential. Through fun, adventure, and hands-on experiences, our members develop leadership skills, teamwork, self-motivation, commitment, perseverance, environmental awareness, cultural understanding, and strong values.

Our approach is simple: learning by doing. Through outdoor adventures, positive peer influence, and meaningful challenges, young people gain the confidence to believe they can make a difference — and to leave the world better than they found it.

We understand that every child is unique. That’s why our programmes offer a wide variety of activities and projects to suit different interests and strengths. From creative and practical skills to physical and leadership challenges, our members grow and advance at their own pace while earning badges and recognition along the way.

Meerkats (Ages 5–6)
Our youngest members begin their journey as Meerkats, where they are introduced to Scouting through play, exploration, and imagination. Meerkats learn basic life skills, teamwork, sharing, listening, and respect through games, storytelling, crafts, outdoor fun, and simple community activities. The focus is on building confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging in a safe and nurturing environment.

Cubs (Ages 7–10)
Cubs follow the Cub Trail, where they learn new skills, play games, complete creative crafts, enjoy exciting camps, and take part in community projects. Along their journey, they build friendships, gain confidence, and earn badges that celebrate their achievements.

Scouts (Ages 11–17)
Scouts embark on the Scout Trail — an adventure-filled journey that includes hiking, camping, abseiling, swimming, survival skills, first aid, and even opportunities like flying. It’s an exciting and creative way to stay active, explore the outdoors, meet new friends, and discover the world around them.

Rovers (Ages 18–30)
Rovers continue their Scouting journey by combining their love for the outdoors with meaningful service to others. They focus on leadership, personal growth, adventure, and giving back to the community.

At 1st Edenvale Scouts Group, we don’t just run activities — we build character, inspire leadership, and create lifelong memories for every stage of the Scouting journey.

Meerkats (Ages 5–6)

Meerkats are the youngest members of our Scouting family. At this foundational stage, children are introduced to Scouting through structured play, storytelling, creative activities, outdoor exploration, and simple team challenges. The programme focuses on building confidence, listening skills, cooperation, respect, and independence in a safe and supportive environment. Meerkats begin developing a sense of responsibility and belonging while having fun and discovering the world around them.

Membership at the 1st Edenvale Scouts Group is open to all boys and girls, regardless of race or religious beliefs. We welcome young people across the following age groups:

  • Meerkats: Ages 5–6
  • Cubs: Ages 7–10
  • Scouts: Ages 11–17
  • Rovers: Ages 18–30

Each section offers an age-appropriate programme designed to support personal growth, skill development, adventure, and community involvement.

Adult Volunteers

Our Adult Leaders are dedicated volunteers who make our programme possible. Many were Scouts themselves or are parents of current or former members, but previous Scouting experience is not required.

Anyone with a passion for youth development, adventure, and community service is welcome to get involved. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided to all leaders, ensuring they are well-equipped to guide and mentor our members safely and effectively.
