The Cub programme builds on the foundations laid in Meerkats and provides a structured, adventure-based environment where boys and girls develop practical skills, confidence, and a strong sense of teamwork.
Cubs follow the Cub Trail, progressing through a balanced programme designed to promote personal growth, responsibility, and active citizenship. Their effort and commitment are recognised through the achievement of over thirty activity badges, encouraging goal-setting, perseverance, and pride in accomplishment.
In addition to weekly meetings, Cubs participate in activity days, weekend camps, and Pack holidays. These experiences are central to the Cub journey and allow members to apply skills in real-world environments while strengthening friendships and independence.
Through the programme, Cubs:
- Go camping and learn outdoor living skills
- Play structured team-building games
- Explore nature and develop environmental awareness
- Try adventurous activities such as climbing, sailing, and archery
- Engage with members of their local community
- Learn about and experience different cultures
- Develop skills to keep themselves and others safe
The Cub section is currently led by Akela, Colleen Grobler, who has been an active member of the Scouting community for many years. Colleen is deeply committed to the Cubs, the Scouting movement, and the broader community, providing consistent leadership and mentorship.
